I loved playing classic AnA as a kid, and recently started playing again (1942 2nd edition). I wanted to try Global 1940, and it’s been so much fun. Highly recommended!
The out of the box Global rules are fun, but do favor the Axis. Never fear! There are endless variations and house rules others have created and tested to give you a more balanced experience. Or, feel free to try your own ideas!
My two (minor) complaints are:
1. They don’t ship with enough plastic chips for stacking units to play a long game (and the games should be long). You’ll want to pick up some extras or borrow from your other games (or both).
2. The game really should come with paper or chip IPCs. Having the “real” money really improves the game play experience. You can buy separately, borrow from previous games, or just use plain ol’ poker chips.
